Hi,
V5
placing points on a surface, right click on points tool for multiple, cttl click on osnaps, select OnSrf, select surface, start plotting, when ended, points no where to be seen, they have gone to Cplane.
reason …although osnaps turned OFF using DISABLED button, and Project is part of the row that changes appearance when that is done, (done to avoid cursor being pulled to the drawn grid I am having to plot to AND between ), before clicking DISABLE., the project button was ON. so PROJECT is not disabled…and PROJECT overides OnSrf being selected and the surface being selected.
Thus project needs to be turned off before DISABLE is selected, it overides draw on surface.
so for my 2nd plotting I make sure PROJECT is off, then i click DISABLE, choose multiple points, then ctrl click on osnaps and choose OnSrf, select the surface, I am now good to go, result, the points, are at Cplane again !
Hi,
V5
I wanted to do multiple points on the surface, I know of the options that ctrl click on osnaps give, so chose OnSrf. I didnt know that was one shot, having chosen MULTIPLE points I took it that Rhino would be expecting me to place many points and OnSrf told it I needed them on a surface.
so after the first one they end up at Cplane then.
I had described the exact steps I took and the result hoping that was ok.
As Pascal suggested, use the Persistant On Surface, POnSrf, Osnap instead of On Surface, OnSrf, Osnap when placing he points. There is also Persistant on PolySurface, POnPSrf, Osnap.
