Motocross Rider Knee Protection for a client. I modeled this in Rhino 8 on a MacBookPro M1. Rendered with Cycles in Rhino 8, AI animation, Photoshop and Kling.
These knee guards were a challenge to model as the articulation and form had to fit the knee comfortably. Also, the client wanted their logo to form a “chain mail” texture to communicate strength and protection.
After a couple of tweaks, I 3D printed the model and they signed off on it. Thought you folks would enjoy this image and video.
These came out really clean. The chain mail logo texture is a smart touch and the articulation looks spot on. Must’ve taken a lot of tweaking to get the fit right.
It was some tricky modeling, however using cage editing really helped a lot to get the profile for the kneecap to fit comfortably. The articulation worked out perfectly. The chain mail was tedious for sure, but I got us to work. They tried to duplicate this and solid works and gave up.
