Hi , I can’t get the same result with Mesh repair in Rhino 7 and gvMeshRepair in Matrix for 3dprint , gvMeshRepair is good. is there a solution for Rhino 7 ?
there is
_meshRepair command
which kind of repairs / defects do you need to be handled ? - please provide some data / file that shows your problem - otherwise it s hard to help.
if you have a really crappy input V8 shrinkwrap is the most robust command you get.
Thank you
Can Rhino 7 do a automatic repair ?
short answer no- no automatic fixes for what Im seeing there.
the mesh fixing in rhino is pretty basic.
my strategy is to make messy holes a bit bigger, but with cleaner edges, then patchsingleface to divide them into manageable bits.
then use fillmeshhole, or fillmeshholes
of course in v8 you’d simply shrinkwrap this and be done. Anyone who does this type of work will 100% want to upgrade to v8 asap once it ships.
see if this video helps at all.
Kyle thank you
I have v8 licance and shirnk wrap poorly from orginal ,Even though I have not naked edges etc.but faulty model for 3dprint, I sent it to My friends have matrix for orginal stl they solved it in very short time with gvMeshRepair
What is the difference between gvmeshrepair?
impossible to know without seeing the file-
can you send us a file and steps to reproduce the problem?

It is theoretically possible to improve the MeshRepair command with the ShrinkWrap algorithm - the MeshRepair locates bad spots before the ShrinkWrap repairs the bad spots.
I don’t think its fair to compare a tool that is part of a significant costlier package with Rhino.
You should compare tools that are designed to provide comparable mesh repair functions such as Netfabb and Materialise. You will find that the mesh repair ability as you have requested is available at a significantly higher cost than Rhino (which is not marketed as a mesh repair tool.)
Since the cost of Matrixgold is roughly comparable to Netfabb and Materialise, perhaps Matrixgold is a better value than either package as it also offers integration with Rhino while the other two packages do not.
Just something to put your request in perspective …
.
JewelBeetle has Model Repair which is as good if not better than Netfabb, and way better than MatrixGold.
I don’t believe MatrixGold has license to the Netfabb logic that was in Matrix. Their replacement was never as good.
I can set you up with a free trial of JewelBeetle if you want to experience our Model Repair.
We have Model Repair in both our Rhino 7 and our Rhino 8 installs. So we support both.
But Rhino 8 also provides ShrinkWrap which has some amazing functionality that augments our repair.
Here is a video showing some of their usage:
