When using the same 3D print export settings I have been using for years in R6 and R7, I seem to now have much less control over the density of mesh being created from nurbs objects. See attached side by side image showing the exact same settings with the same shape.
changing both the max angle and min edge length settings to be smaller numbers, there’s actually no difference (previous export shown behind it, same number of polygons).
Hello- I see that it is different… but see how it works in V8 if you set ‘Refine mesh’.
Hm -it still seems to ignore the aspect ratio setting. I’ll check with a developer.
That only seemed to make the rounded corners slightly more dense, but not as dense as the same settings in R7 without refine mesh. the sharp-edged features are unchanged
and yeah, i have my aspect ratio set very high to avoid unnecessary breaks in simple planes, even with simple planes selected. for some reason it would always make splits in totally straight sections that didn’t require breaks unless that was set to a very high value, been doing that since R6.
That’s weird, because the aspect ratio is working as I would expect on my end in R8 (at least compared to how it worked in 6 and 7). The main issue I’m having is the overall mesh density not matching what you would expect given the max angle setting.
