Material tab fails to show image file for selected image

Hi,
V5
ever since V4 then V5 I have never had this happen until now.

1.PictureFrame and insert image
2.select image and select materials tab of the palette layers properties display materials help.
the details alloted to the image by default are displayed along with its name in the part Textures>colour.
3.click that name and a new panel appears where one can grab that name and copy to clipboard.
4.Close that panel.
5.create a new layer , highlight the layer name with a click and paste the name into the layer name.
6.place layer where its required (drag up down etc, and for V5 bug use up down triangle icons to set it in, else it will drop to base sometime later on !

Done this thousands of times.

But now at step 2 its NOT SHOWING the image name and details, but that for a previous one.

If I work my way through the PictureFrame entries at top of dialog, I eventually find it sitting somewhere amongst them ! not at end where one might expect a new addition but in the middle etc.

As I have over 20 so far, thats not practical, its taking time to go on a treasure hunt !

Its never done this to me before.

The selected image in the modelling area should show its data in materials tab.

Whats going on ?

Cheers

Steve

Hi Steve -

In a quick test here, that seems to be working fine.
We’d need your file to be able to try to find out more.
… but is this also doing that in Rhino 7 on your system?

Hi,
I have just done another PictureFrame, select image go material tab and again its not showing the image details.

It doesnt appear at the end of the list in the upper part of the dialog box, but somewhere in the middle of what is 20+ images and growing.

I minimise V5, launch V7 and open the just saved file and its doing as V5 used to so, displaying the image, and clicking the image name it launches a new dialog box , just as V5 used to, where one can select the image name and copy it to clipboard, as was normal with V5.

so V7 ok.

for some reason V5 no longer does all that. No separate dialog box when I eventually find the image file.

Unfortunately with this project I cant send it at all.

I will have to, when I have time, mess about on something I can share.

I also have the old problem just turned up of circles being pecked lines at times.

I wish V7 didnt have basic issues and I could use it, but I cant afford to spend time posting and fixing, and the ribbon twist lines and AA issues are offputting., let alone dims conversion and other things. Need yet more time to mess about on it. I solved the lines with gamma 2.2 instead of 1.0 but had to alter grid colours then find other view modes are now messed up. Basic stuff.

V5 it is for the mo, better the devil you know.

Must solve this image data material tab failure though.

Must get this project finishee asap and cannot get diverted into yet another problem solving thing just as I am near the finishing line. had to use V5 to stand a chance of getting to the line. Need Rhino to just work, not put up a fight as V7 has. Perhaps I am, feeding it on the wrong food !

Hi,
V5 (and V7 was ok)
Win 10 64bit pro.

its doing it on a new file, been bad enough on my now complex build, actually last few images were back to normal, but then here we go again.
and as I have started a new file and its doing it within first three Picture Frames, before I even start drawing,.

enough is enough.

attached a test file where its also failing to show image 3 as such,.

and here are the test images.

How do I send a file with the images it uses, all I can think of is attach here.

but if such were large one doesnt want to show them on screen let alone try to attach them.

image fails to be recognised in materials tab.3dm (59.5 KB)

All the objects in that file reference the same material
The file contains only 1 material, and the image is missing, but other than that, the image texture name is shown:
