Mac Printing - Printer features?

Hi, I’m stumped about a particular printing issue on Mac. I remember that in Rhino 6 I could access my printer’s options from the Rhino print dialog. Like paper type and printing quality. I can’t seem to find it in Rhino 8. Is there a fix or workaround for this? Going to PDF first works but it is very clunky to have to save a file.

Speaking of, I would also like the option to “open PDF in Preview” without saving a file - that seems to be missing as well.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Chris -

Which version of Rhino 8 are you running? When you select a physical printer from the list, there should be a Properties button in the print dialog.

We have that request on the list as RH-79156 Print Dialog: Open in Preview functionality missed

There is, but clicking it is not showing any results.

Max.

Thanks Wim and Max. I also see the Properties button but clicking it does nothing for me as well.

Hi Wim, I am now on Rhino 8: (8.15.25019.13002, 2025-01-19)

I just went to print today and still cannot access any of these features. I can’t edit my printer settings before the job is sent so I can’t choose the correct paper tray, print quality, etc. (to review from last time: I see the Properties button but clicking it does nothing).

I also still can’t quickly open a job in Preview to change the print settings there - my only choice is to export a PDF and then print using Preview. I don’t have anything good to say about this workaround - often I just need to print something without creating a file.

This affects every conceivable print job I might perform on Mac, so I would consider this still pretty broken. Is there any way to escalate these issues?
