draw a line
press enter or space or repeat the command from an alias - nothing happens…
right mouse button to repeat works because the click restores the focus to the viewport.

I am unable to repeat this.
I typed the “Line” command, click 2 points to draw a line, then the spacebar or enter repeated Line.
I created an Alias or “L” for “! _Line” and started it with L.
That repeated with spacebar and enter as well.
What are you doing differently?
Ok…
What I’m doing differently is that when I open rhino, the template has a few reference entities that I often use.
However, if I’m not going to use them, the first thing I do is turn that layer off.
I can then draw a line, but only one. The behaviour is then as I’ve described.
If I open a new instance, and don’t go near the layers panel then everything is as one would expect.
So it must be something with the layers panel not relinquishing focus…?

I don’t know if it makes any difference with this issue but i sometimes start Lines or Polyline instead of Line to draw a single line and then it doesn’t seem to work properly.
I can’t repeat this behavior either, even after going into the layers panel and turning off a layer.
OK - its interesting that so far no-one seems to be able to reproduce it… nevertheless its still happening here.
The hardware is a standard Dell 7730 notebook running windows 10 with no additional hardware , screens etc. Rhino V7, V6 & V5 run fine.
I first noticed this in the previous wip (which was also the Wip that fixed a problem here with some files crashing rhino on startup). I didn’t mention it at that time, since it was a “build of the day” and a new wip (this one that’s installed now) was due in a few days.
here’s what I’ve done so far:
I use a wacom tablet, which i recently upgraded the drivers for. I have removed the whole app, and unplugged the hardware - no change.
Windows itself is updated automatically.
I have updated my intel & nvidia drivers to the latest. - no change
I have started rhino in safe mode - no change
I see in options / advanced that there are many entries that are changed from their default state. Most of it looks like cosmetic & file location stuff, but its obviously pertaining to this local install - I would reset it to its default state, but I see no option to do that…?
I can’t think of anything else I might try. In any case I can’t use V8 in this state, so I’ve gone back to V7.

Just a shot in the dark…
Any chance the batteries in your wireless mouse are getting tired?
I get really weird things happening when I’m due for a battery change.
Good thought, but I have a USB mouse…
I did unplug it though and use the laptop touch pad - no change.
OK solved it (or isolated the problem).
The way to do this is to make scrambled eggs. It requires some concentration to get this right, even though its seemingly a simple task:
1] Crack two or three eggs into a bowl. Add a couple of teaspoons of a good quality olive oil, and a bit of ground pepper.
2] Chop a half handful of parsley and/or chives.
3] Place a small non-stick fry pan on medium heat, with a knob of butter, and a drop or two of olive oil.
4] Whisk the eggs briskly with a fork till all the ingredients are combined.
5] Put the toast on now, before adding the eggs into the pan.
6] Once the butter in the pan is beginning to bubble, tip the eggs in.
7] With a wooden spoon or a non-metal spatula stir the eggs, and break them up gently as they begin to coalesce.
8] Stay with it, as it will come to a point where you need to stop very quickly - This point is where they are almost set, but with still a little runny. Turn off the heat, add the parsley, give a final quick stir, and address yourself to buttering the toast.
9] Tip the eggs out onto the buttered toast, add salt if desired and enjoy slowly, while your mind idles comfortably in a leisured and random state.
10] Suddenly, you will know without doubt what the problem is!
The problem is indeed that the layer panel is hogging focus, but it only does this if it is undocked.
The clue was that something seemed odd about the screen layout, and that is what finally triggered the realisation - the viewports continued all the way to the edge of the monitor - I could see them UNDER the layer panel, which meant the panel must have being floating.
Docking the panel to the right, to where it collapsed to just a thin line of icons made everything work again, and un-pinning it so that it expanded so you could see the contents (though still docked ) made everything look quite V7ish again, and everything was good.
Finally, if you undock the panel so it floats, and alter something in the layer panel, like turning on or off a layer, it behaves badly again, and won’t give up focus (just like the notes pane in V7).
(As far as I recall, I didn’t undock the panel initially, it just came like that…?)
