I’m jumping between Rhino 8.4, 8.5 and latest 8.6 service release candidate. One version give me different issues than the other. I don’t know exactly what is wrong but I’m stuck with updating Block Definitions. After updating Block Definitions via Grasshopper I can’t return to the Rhino window because it freezes. I can’t pan the viewport window or even collapse layers in the Layers Panel.
Can I try my luck with some 8.7 internal build plase?

Eh, that didn’t solve the issue. I don’t know what casues Rhino to freeze, but after pushing the content cache I can’t even collapse layers.
@Japhy Can you please post here links to older builds? 8.1, 8.2, etc. At some point in the past I didn’t had these issues. I’m willing to test more Rhino versions, but I don’t have older Rhino 8 installers than 8.4.
Does this happen while running in safemode? (eliminate a plugin mucking things up)
I’ll send you a couple links
Unfortunately, even in safe mode, it freezes. While modifying only a small number of Blocks it can unfreeze after a while. I didn’t wait hours to see if it would do the same after updating hundreds of Block Definitions.
Tested 8.2 and it’s the same. I must find another way to do it… I’ve been stuck with this far too long.
Are there materials on the objects inside the blocks? There was a recent youtrack submitted that could be related if so.
I successfully narrowed the problem down. Tested on two computers and different Rhino versions. I hope you will get the same results and it can be resolved soon. I invested time in getting familiar with and creating Rhino.Inside.Revit / Grasshopper Blocks pipelines, I like it a lot and would like to use it.
Please let me know if you can recreate it. I’ve sent the file to the tech support.
It seems that the Model Block Instance component is responsible for these major freezes. In the video, you can see that if the Model Block Instance component is enabled, making changes to the visibility of one Layer (some of the objects within Blocks are on that Layer) causes a freeze. Later in the video, you can see that recomputing or re-enabling Model Block Instance and collapsing layer structure in the Layers Panel will make Rhino freeze, which is very odd.

BTW Query Model Block Definitions component is showing the same problem.
