Lock surface edge, so surface can be formed without moving the edge

I’m currently trying to use cage edit to form a surface that is attached to another surface. I want to make sure that the line where both surfaces touch is locked in some way, so I can edit the top surface without the surface edge moving (and thus preserving the contact “line” of the two surfaces.

Is there a way to lock the surface edge, so I can form the surface without moving its bottom edge?

Hi Luc - you may need to experiment and I’m not sure it will be clean enough but there is a ‘Local’ setting on cage editing - you’d make the cage end just above (in the image) the edge and set falloff distance to end by the edge. I’ll try it and see if I can make something work. The edge will probably need to be planar or nearly so.

Hey Pascal, just to get back at you:

I got it working by forming my one surface before I joined it to the other surface. Since the bottom on that surface was still planar (like you said) I was able to form it better.
