List/Domain Help

Hi all,

Hoping to get some help surrounding an issue I’m having with pulling specific branches of a data tree.

I’m hoping to pull only the first rectangles into their own tree. I’ve tried indexing it with list but to no avail. I also tried construct domain but the output still contained all the paths.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I deleted a bunch of useless garbage on the right side of the GH canvas. Data trees - understand them or give up on Grasshopper :exclamation:

Cool, thanks for the help. Hope you feel big telling an undergrad to give up on Grasshopper as a middle-aged man  not like I just started learning the software or anything

That’s not what I said. My advice still stands. Make it a priority to understand data trees or give up.

Way too many people here, new to GH, don’t bother at all to understand code they have been given.

I appreciate the elaboration and can agree with the sentiment that I should learn data trees as it’s important. However, I feel there are more productive ways to go about it, such as your follow-up. I do appreciate the time you’ve taken to create a script and give me a starting point, so thank you once again.

Hi @Aidan_Rich

Just to say, even after all these years the primer is still the best way to learn about data trees if you’re keen on figuring them out. I still remember getting confused about what is going on (sometimes I still do) and going through the primer - the 1st edition back then - bit by bit was the best way to do it. The diagrams are tremendously helpful in visualising things.

See here.

Best of luck with it.

John.
