Lines have suddenly started to only draw on a single plane rhino 8

Hi, I didn’t had issue until now but lines have started to only draw horizontally in perspective view. I tried:

  • drawing in Cplane and World
  • resetting the tools bar
  • selecting vertical when drawing a line but this still doesn’t work because it doesn’t work on polyline and I want more freedom than to have straight lines
  • I turned off the project
  • I typed P and turned off that too
I want the lines to be free go in every direction, not just horizontally and vertically. Please help me with this.

It might be trying to snap to the Grid.

Hello- drawing always goes to the CPlane, if not over-ridden by snapping or elevator mode - that is standard behavior in Rhino. Drawing in perspective, ‘freely’ just can’t happen because there is no way, without a snap, for Rhino to know where in Z you expect the cursor to be. However, you can get some of this effect by using Ortho - this includes a lock to the the CPlane Z axis. See also Help for this and for ‘Elevator Mode’.

I turned of Grip snap and tried to make a line outside the grid as well as on it but it still doesn’t work.

I can make a short vertical line using ortho mode however, it still limits the height. Is this normal?

Hello- I see that here too at a shallow angle - that is wrong, thanks for pointing this out.
RH-80760 Ortho in Z tune up

Elevator mode does work in this scenario.
