Line types - Break lines?

Does anybody know a way to create a Break line type in Rhino? The sort that has a series of little zigzags in it, at intervals along the line.

That currently isn’t possible with how linetype patterns work in Rhino.
Rhino’s lines consist of repeated patterns of drawn lines, gaps, and points.
There is no provision for zigzags or text in the pattern like you would expect in an application intended for drafting like AutoCAD.

hI, ANY UPDATES ON A BREAKLINE?

Nope…
RH-65689 Linetype: Break line

I had need for just this last week. Again.

Had to resort to manually drawing said linetype. Again.

Sigh.

This would be really nice to have!

Are we any closer to possibly getting this feature? Thanks!

Hi and welcome, TJ -

Items on the pile of bugs and feature requests are generally visible to the public and you can always check the state and release target to see if there have been changes.

RH-65689 is fixed in Rhino WIP

Hi Matt -

Could you post an image of such line?
-wim

I suspect it’s like this…

Haven’t tried personally yet, but if I understood correctly, this is now possible in the WIP

That’s how I read the original request in this thread as well.
… and that is possible in the WIP, yes.

But that’s not how I would put a break line on my drawings. I would use a single such zig-zag as how Pascal drew that in the YT ( RH-65689) on two sides of the break:

The other examples in that YT also are single occurrences of a specific shape to denote a break in the drawing.

I’m just trying to get some feedback to see if that YT should be reopened as not implemented. The new LinetypeWithShapes command is specifically for reoccurring shapes and text along a curve.

Have a look at ISO 128-2. It shows this type of break line as an example of linetypes with inserted patterns, amongst others. They have it with a repeating zig zag. greed, on shorter break lines it only appears the once. If you have a longer break or one that does more than just a straight line, then the pattern repeats.

Hi Matt -
Does that mean that LinetypeWithShapes fixes the issue for you?

… I’m calling that implemented then…
