I have accidentally created layouts on the wrong layer, which is particularly inconvenient as I want to remove that layer… Is it possible to change the layer of a layout? I cannot see the layer property anywhere in the layout properties box, as you would for a drawing object.

Layouts are not created on layers.
When you create a layout, you typically also create details. Those details are objects that are created on a layer. Select the details and move them to another layer, just like you would with any other objects.
