I have one layout page with 3 details on it. I happen to be in different layers when i created these details, so now the detail viewport has taken the layer i used to be the property of the detail.
When turning off a layer Globally i now lose those details. I have tried to change the detail layer to a generic one but see and read this may not be possible with out deleteing the details and recreating using the correct layer.
My question, can the detail layer be changed afterwards?
If not, what is best practice to create details going forward as i may end up with many sheets for some projects?
Hi @JP13 ,
Yes you can change the layer that a detail is assigned to.
Layer is an Object property of the detail.
You can do this is a number of ways.
Probably the most common is to use the Properties panel
On the Layout (do not activate the detail), pick the edge of the Detail.
For both Rhino 8 Windows and Mac, go to the the Properties panel, under Layer, select the layer to assign the detail.
I make a layer called Detail, and neve turn it off, so the details never disappear in by accident.
Let us know if this works for you.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Fugier
Hi Mary, Yes thank you, that worked. I was trying it down in the command bar at the bottom with no luck, so thought it was not possible, but now after closing and opening all is working, That property panel as you say is easier.
I have one other minor problem now that i cannot select one of the detail view borders like its locked. I can double click into it, but not select the border.
I need to have a look around to see if i have accidentally locked something.
