Latest Win10 feature update broke rhino

Hi Everyone,

Rhino is stuck on preparing plugins for first use.
Launched Rhino in Safe mode, disabled all plugins (including the ones that ship with Rhino)
Reset Rhino options to default. (used an .ini with default options)

What should my next step be?

Sorry forgot to add:
My graphics is nvidia RTX, latest driver available.

I’ll assume you rebooted after the Windows update.

Look in Windows’ Check for Updates in “View Update History” to see if there are any failed updates that did not succeed with a subsequent attempt.
Pay particular attention to anything related to .NET.

Any luck?

John, thank you for quick reply !

The update log did not have any failed updates but a new check for updates fetched “Cumulative Update Preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for Windows 10”

Yet it did not change things

run a repair on rhino-

add or remove programs> rhino>modify>repair

run the repair and then reboot- any better?

Hello Kyle,

I did that too, I used a new setup of Rhino and checked the repair option.
I will retry to do so after the new .NET update windows fetched.

I did a 2nd Rhino repair (and restart) after the new .NET update but I m still stuck.
Any other suggestions guys?

BTW, Rhino 7 loads fine

Hello - grasping at straws here but an install of the video driver after the windows update might be a thing to try, if you have not.

Good call Pascal, I ll give it a try.

Reinstalled graphics driver and restarted, no change.

hm - can you please post a list of the plug-ins that do not ship with Rhino?

-Pascal

Sure,
Here they are:

Pascal, given to the hint you provided, I unistalled Pavetool from Logis3D and Rhino loaded just fine.
I m going to install it again to see if it Rhino will still load.
I will keep you posted.
Thanks !

Yep, Logis3D plugin installed and loads on demand now.
Thanks again for everybody’s help !
Is there any simple function to restore loading needed plugins on startup, or I should do it on a case by case basis?

Hello - OK, I’m glad it is all working - I’d deal with plug-ins ‘case by case’ I guess… I do not know of a more global tool.
