Issue: switching to two point perspective not right working (R7)

Hi,

often I need to switch from a standard perspective to a two point perspective and always I need to correct the wrong set camera. My wish for the developer: please keep camera location and target.

Best regards,
Micha

Here two screenshots to illustrate the problem.

camera location get lost

after manual correction the goal is reached

Have you tried saving you camera /Named Views?

Rhino Camera Settings (uoregon.edu)

Yes, I have saved views and tried to change them to two point perspectives.

Hi Micha -

At the moment, changing from perspective to 2PP always moves the camera location at the same elevation as the target location. The feature request to not have this happening is on the list as RH-32178.

Hi Micha,

While it should be implemented in Rhino for sure eventually, did you have a chance to try the tool I posted a while ago when discussing the same thing back in 2020 - it should allow you to switch the projection without losing your camera/target position…

Hi @wim,

Thank you for looking into this. It’s a pity that such a basic feature is treated as a feature request and not a bug. I wish the team would choose more to refine the current features first.

Thank you @Jarek for the nice tool. It’s works great. I did forget that we talk about it years before. I wished I wouldn’t need to install extra tools for such a little basic function.

I agree! But I kind of lost hope, it’s been discussed since it was implemented in V5 and now in V8 still slated as “Future”. Quite basic obvious thing, but maybe it’s just you and me that need this

Is there any chance of rectifying the error now, two years later? Please don’t forget that. It is so inconvenient to restore the view.
