Issue - Package Manager not working

Hello there. I am trying to install the LookX Ai plug in on rhino 8 for MacOs. When I launch Package Manager and search in the search bar for any plug in, nothing appears. Only the “I’m searching” icon remains on the right but completely freezed. Can anyone help me? Thank you very much.

Hi Edoardo -

That seems to be working fine from here at the moment. It sounds like you are behind a firewall that is blocking access to the package manager. What do you see in your browser when you follow this link: https://yak.rhino3d.com

Hi Wim, thanks.
Hi see this: {“version”:“0.12.8”}

Hi Edoardo -
Just to make sure, are you in an organization that has its own package server?

I am using the licence given to me by the University - Politecnico di Milano. And it is linked to my university person code. I don’t exactly know how it works after that.

Hi -
When you go to Rhino Settings and, in Advanced, search for Rhino.Options.PackageManager.Sources, does that show anything other than https://yak.rhino3d.com/ ?
-wim

No nothing more - I only see that one. But I have the same issue even on my old version of Rhino 7.

Thanks, Edoardo.
Are you using a desktop machine in the university’s lab or a laptop? If you are using a laptop, have you tried the Package Manager from some other place than at the university?

I’m using my personal laptop, without any connection to the university. Internet o similar.
I’ve tried in different places, with different internet connection (wifi, cabled etc).
Thanks for your patience Wim.
Edoardo

Do you happen to have macOS’s built-in Firewall active? System Settings > Network > Firewall ?

Are you running a personal firewall software like Little Snitch?

I’m guessing the answers to both these questions is “No.”

Well, the built-in Firewall is on. And I don’t have a personal Firewall running.

I take it that temporarily disabling your macOS built-in Firewall does not change anything with regard to the Package Manager?

I tried and nothing changed

@will What would you recommend Edoardo try next? So far, we’ve verified that:

  • https://yak.rhino3d.com in a browser returns {“version”:“0.12.8”}
  • Rhino.Options.PackageManager.Sources is not overriden
  • He’s tried connecting from multiple locations/connections - inside his university and out.
  • His macOS Firewall is disabled

Samething here on Windows11 Pro. Internet connectivity works fine.

Just updated to latest release and the problem persists. No firewall running here.
