Is there a switch for surface/polysurface colour layer/single colour? (esp. for ghosted view)

Would like to temp or even by default switch to a single colour display in ghosted view.

Hi Hannes- no, not really- the settings are not really accessible very easily in a macro- it is probably best, if you want both available, to make two Ghosted modes with one having the single color set.(Options > View > Display modes, find Ghosted, Duplicate, and then modify the copy)

Not sure if this is exactly what you were after, but in Display Modes you can edit the color source for shading (see below).
@pascal - there is a hacky way to do it in RhinoScript (not its Python implementation as some methods are missing) to toggle switch this property without editing display mode or creating dup. mode. See attached script - it will toggle the color source for Ghosted mode.
