Is it possible to model hollow objects?

I’m printing a 3d part and want to model cavities… Is there any way to connect the cavities to the outside surface so it’s “solid” ?? Or should the 3d printer software understand what’s going on based on normals direction?

A 3D printer should print a qube inside a qube as a wall, but you would not be able to get the stuff inside out of it of course.
But as I said, it depends on the software.

Another sollution is to “drill” a tiny hole, like 0.01 mm wide through the parts (In example: use boolean difference twice, first for the hole, then for the inner part)
