Inconsistent save times

Hi all,

Building a small, simple model for some PC parts, and the file is acting odd on saving. The file stays around 5-15mb in size. Sometimes it saves instantly, as expected as i’m running my system on an nvme ssd. Other times it takes 10 seconds (I know,10 seconds, such a long time to wait… /s).

But seriously, what could be causing it such dramatic differences in save time? I noticed it takes a little bit longer to save when I first start Rhino and do some modelling or drawing. Then it tends to even out and save instantly after a couple minutes.

Found this thread and turned off the setting, issue persists.

Also this thread didn’t solve it.

Hello - two things - one, please update Rhino to the current service release, which is sr 31

https://www.rhino3d.com/download/rhino-for-windows/7/latest

and, also please disable the two plug-ins above in Options > Plugins page, then close and restart Rhino and see if the behqavior persists.

Thank you Pascal. Vray seems to be the culprit. Disabling it solved the issue.

Is there an alternative where I can keep Vray enabled?

Hi -

You might want to report that to Chaos Group.
I’m not aware of any workarounds for this one.
