Hi everyone, I’m new to Grasshopper and trying to model Peter Zumthor’s Swiss Sound Box Pavilion.
So far, I can stack the timber planks using Array Linear, which gives me uniform gaps and works for the basic structure.
What I can’t figure out is how to make smaller, denser clusters of planks in certain zones, and then return to normal spacing in other areas. Ideally I’d like to:
-
Control the total number of planks and their thickness.
-
Have local regions where the gaps are smaller (denser) and others more open.
-
Keep it parametric so I can adjust the density zones with sliders or attractors.
Is the best way to do this by combining multiple Array Linears (with different distances), or should I be setting up a non-uniform array (e.g., Range → Graph Mapper → Remap → Mass Addition → Move)?
If anyone has a simple example definition, screenshots, or just a step-by-step on how to vary the spacing, that would be amazing. Thanks a lot!
