How To Model this "Inflated" type of letters?

Hi There, I was wondering what could be an easy and quick way to 3d model the image I will post below. I can’t find a proper way to do it accurate as it looks like the letters have been inflated with different air pressures across the surfaces. Thanks!

Here’s a Grasshopper definition.
If you scale your lettering to a similar size to that in this example, you should be able to just replace the referenced curves with yours and run it again to get the new result.

Those letters are really fun to look at for some reason :slightly_smiling_face: I wanna play with the GH file now on some logos

Some reason I can’t get it inflated on my end:

 :thought_balloon: … tried ‘endabling’ it buuuuut…

Are you aware that the Boolean Toggle on the Kangaroo Solver input ‘On’ needs to be set to true?

I thought I tried that, idk :man_shrugging:t4:

Sometimes it also just needs to be reset…

Ok I ‘double clicked’ it and I think that did the trick :sunglasses:

Yes a Boolean Toggle needs to be double clicked.

Hovering the component you see this:

Another road if you want to model it is through subD.

One approach is:

  • Draw the outline
  • Make a planar surface
  • Quadremesh that plane with the number of polygons fit for the shape (Use preview)
  • ToSubD the mesh and pull it up with the Gumball while holding Ctrl to extrude it
  • Adjust the internal mesh faces and edges.

Note that the SubD will be “smaller” than the outlined curve so you will need to manually adjust the SubD to match the curve again for it to be accurate.

PS! And a bit OT, but if you want to get more “punch” in the highlights than what you get from the default environment then you can raise the multiplier of the HDRI in the default environment to 1.2 and lower it’s Gamma to 0.5.

This is what the default environment looks like:
