draw a closed curve → extrude → shrinkwrap the result with a lot of smoothing steps (e.g. 50)
quadremesh → deform
I mean I suppose SubD would be ‘ideal,’ but this is just basic freeform modeling. Deform a sphere! (well I start everything with a plane but that’s me.)
