Hi, I had a class project about 2 years ago where I made a “bird house”. I was able to make the surfaces, but when I cut it in half to show a sectional cut, the inside cavity is not solid. It’s just two thin surfaces.
Is there a way to make the shape again or get the cuts?
i have no idea what i am looking at, and not sure what you are expecting, is that some serious work, or should it become something serious or is/was that just some quickly thrown together experiment? your entire model is a mess, you should maybe post the geometry before you cut it apart for this albeit beautiful but for modelling purposes useless display. though i do not expect much more from it other than at least knowing how it should look like. yes its not solid but you dont need anybody else to tell you that i hope.
if you have the initial curves you built that with, then just try from there once more, that can not be more work than trying to salvage this odd piece of birds *** sorry if that sounds harsh
Hi @Mya
You can use the commands Untrim and UntrimAll to get the original surface(s) back and then work your way forward; re-creating the hole and the inside surface. The version you have in the file have several problems, including quite a few edges that don’t line up at all, which would make creating a solid section impossible. Most notably the top section has been cut loose from the lower section and rotated - but the section isn’t circular, so it doesn’t fit. You’ll need to fix that by cutting out a section of both top and bottom and using BlendSrf or similar to fill the gap between the two with a smooth surface… and then join them up, re-create the hole and OffsetSrf to create the wall thickness.
Or if you just want to re-align the two halves, use Orient with Osnaps to bring them back to the original position - but it’ll still be full of naked edges and unable to produce a clean section.
