Does anyone know how to apply a color image to a mesh, from a 3D laser scanner, for 3D color printing? I need to 3D print a exact color copy of an object, using photographs taken of the original object to make an exact color replica.
Hi Malachai - Try: apply a Rhino material with the color you like and then export to vrml (2) format. For an image, you can apply a texture to the material in Rhino and I believe if you export the vrml file and place the image in the same folder, and send it along with, you can get a colored print from that combo, but I’ve never done it myself.

Did you apply a texture map to the color channel of a basic material and then view the model in the Rendered display mode? If you did this and still can’t see the image, you may also need to adjust the texture mapping properties for the object.
Please post the 3dm file and the texture map images you’re using if you still have trouble… there could be something else involved.
