How do you assign macros to custom menu items in Rhino8?

In Rhino 8 I found the new menus command. But how do you assign macros to menu items? In Rhino 7, the Workspace Editor displays a macros panel next to the menu structure, making it easy to assign macros to menu items.

Does anyone at McNeel have any insight here?

When you had a new menu item, you should see this form:

Thanks, Dale. I see that now. In Rhino 7 there was a menu item editor, and right clicking on a menu item and selecting “Item Properties” allowed you to edit the macro (and macro name) directly.

Was the removal of “Item Properties” intentional? Or am I missing something? If I want to tweak how a menu item behaves or change it’s name, do I have to leave the menu editor and run the “macros” command to curate the macro there?

Also, is it possible to move menu items?

Hi @bradlcampbell,

I’m sure this was just an oversight. I’ve logged the issue.

Thanks, Dale. With the UI changes in 8, I wasn’t sure if there was a change in paradigm for creating menus, so I’ve been banging my head a little. I’ll wait for this item to be addressed in an update. It would be nice to be able to move menu items as well. That doesn’t currently seem to be possible.

@dale/@stevebaer ,

Hi, is this going to make it into the next update/point release? My menus are getting stale and need a refresh.

Thanks,
Brad

Hi Brad,
I haven’t had a chance to look into this yet.

A friendly plea to resolve this.

Hi, Steve and Dale, I made some edits to my menu in Rhino 7 and loaded that in Rhino 8. I ended up with a few spurious entries name **no label**. I’m not sure how to save a custom menu in Rhino 8. Will the save option in the toolbar editor do the trick?
