I’m trying to make these simple imprint stamps that will be the negative for a concrete cast in place surface. I making like a curved offset so they become easier to remove and reduce cracking on concrete than casting a straight edge. Please see image to see the non continuous curving when extruding the surface. I have this organic fish shape that we have a contracted artist create, it goes with alot other organic glyth like shapes but this is one of the main ones.
My issue is that I’m getting a bit of a weird drop off at the tail of the fish. Is there a way to smooth it out?

We want the main shape intact and then flare out to a depth of 15mm and 10mm offset. The current model flare out isn’t really a continous curve, its like stepping out and making these odd edges in the image bellow:
We just want a continous curve flareout edge, how would that be achieved?
You extract the outline, then move it down by 15mm and offset it outwards by 10mm; then I would use a loft or a two-rail sweep, drawing the straight sections…
What you are trying to do is make surfaces from curves that are a combination of smooth and kinked.
Rhino is not any good at doing that in any sort of automated way. And don’t expect this to be one surface.
To make a nice shape what you want to do is make surfaces that have flow lines that extend outward radially and evenly. There should be surface creation tools in Rhino that do that but there isn’t.
IMO the best way to do this is using Loose Loft, but first you have to make sets of curves that match. It takes about a dozen lofts (one for each smooth area and one for each kink)

One more thing, does anyone know the best way to trim these intersecting edges on the inside thats stopping me from capping the object. Now that the sweep has become a complete shape its not forming snap points to draw a shape to trim it off. or is there a way to infill the inside ?
One way to do this quickly is by duplicating the border, getting rid of the self intersecting segments and then using shrinkwrapping the boundary surface and the open polysurface.
