I’m using Rhino 8 for Mac, and have made transparent hatch on a plan (using LinearReflected gradient), but when PDF it goes solid and won’t retain transparency.
Is there anyway to PDF a drawing and retain this transparency?
Thanks!
Hi Tim -
That is not currently possible.
We have this issue on our list as RH-54857 Transparency not working in vector output
I’ve added this thread.

Wim, many thanks for the update.
Noticed on that list you commented 3 years ago “Note: this seems to apply only to gradient hatches. Solid hatches with transparency work fine”
Is there a way of making a solid hatch transparent (in Rhino 8 for Mac) which then shows as transparent in PDF?
(Using gradient hatch was a workaround as couldn’t see any other way of making solid hatch transparent)
Hi Tim -
You either set the object’s layer to have a somewhat transparent color or assign such to the hatch object itself.
Example: Solid Hatch with Transparency for PDF.3dm (2.3 MB)

Wim - That works, brilliant, thanks!! I have a lot to learn…
