Hops function sources / what is it?

I found the Hops Functions Sources section in the Grasshopper preferences, but cannot figure out what it can be used for.

I was hoping it maybe relates to my question regarding relative file paths.

I found the Hops Functions Sources section in the Grasshopper preferences, but cannot figure out what it can be used for.
