Hex Grid - Populating geometry with surfaces/additional attractors

I have mapped my geometry to a cylinder surface and managed to loft between hex grids. I am not unsure how to populate the faces of the mesh with surfaces, i.e creating a surface for the whole face then trimming the surface with my geometry.

Also, any ideas on how to alter the geometry in the z axis with attractors. All attempts thus far have lead to the hex grid not being able to be recreated.
