Help with Closing Naked Edges

Hello everyone

I’m working on a drawing where I’m having trouble joining lines. Every time I try to join the curves, the shape changes. I would like to close the naked edges and create a closed surface, but I’m unsure how to do this properly.
Could anyone kindly guide me on how to fix this issue?

Thank you in advance for your help!

I’m not seeing the changing shape here, the curves join up into two closed curves no problem. I’m not seeing the self-intersecting message either when making a PlanarSrf.

The naked edges are normal, you have made a planar surface not joined to anything, so all the outer border edges are “naked” (which means not joined to something). A surface has no thickness. If you are looking to make a volume, you would need to extrude the planar objects.

Here in any case, I can extrude either the closed curve or the planar surfaces to make a closed volume.

The file is created with Rhino 8.1. You’re quite many service releases behind (11), almost a years’ worth of fixes. Update to Rhino 8.12 and see if things improve for you.
