Help: Gumball disappears!

Hi everyone, I’m using Rhino 6 (Ver.6.13 I believe), been working fine til today. The Gumball is acting crazy. As soon as the cursor hits it, everything disappears except there’s a little white dot in the middle. Thing is, the Gumball is still there, it’s just invisible…once I find the arrowheads/etc, it reappears. Tried all different display schemes (i.e. Ghosted/Rendered/Shaded/etc), it does the same regardless. I saw quite a few posts having similar problems…anyone know how to fix this??? I’d appreciate any help/advice.

Can you run the command SystemInfo in Rhino and post the results here?

Hey, I’ll try and do that shortly, thx

hi, here’s the systeminfo:

Hello - I tihnk the first thing to try is to go into the NVidia control panel and find the setting that forces the nVidia card to do the work- ‘High performance’ or similar,

-Pascal

I’ll def give that a try ASAP. I’ve also noticed the window ya drag around objects has disappeared as well. My SSD died a couple wks ago, had to wipe the memory/Etc…Just got it back last wk, so it probably is the Graphics card settings. Thx

Yeah, that didn’t help, any other ideas?

Did something happen today that changed your system? If this was working before then I would suspect the presence of some new software or an update being the culprit.

When I got my PC back a wk ago, I had re-download everything. One thing that didn’t work right was all my movie purchases I bought in the Microsoft Store didn’t show up at all. So last Friday I called Microsoft Store Support and she checked out my PC via remote. Long story short, she said my User Login was corrupt somehow. Even tho it had just been created by the PC repair folks a few days before. So she had to transfer all my data over to a new user login. That was Friday. Btw I just tried Rhino in Safe Mode, everything’s fine using that version.

Same thing appears to have happened here to this user:

Found the problem I think. I called Rhino Tech Support. Long story short, my laptop has two graphics cards: NVidia 1070 Max-Q and an Intel. The Intel was conflicting somehow, even though prefs was set to only use the 1070…Went and disabled the Intel in Device Manager, and everything’s fine so far. Thx for ur suggestions, I appreciate it.

Hello! New Rhino user here going through the training documentation (Level 1 Training Guide) to learn the software and I ran into the section “Editing with gumball”, and my gumball has disappeared.

It was there a week or two ago in the earlier pages of the training manual and now it won’t turn on. I right clicked the ‘gumball’ button on the bottom bar and turned it off and on and still no result.

I also have a hybrid graphics situation (Intel Graphics 630 and Nvidia Quattro P2000) and when I disabled the Intelgraphics most of the apps went fuzzy; I did check to ensure that the Nvidia Control Panel is using the Quattro P2000 to run Rhino.

thanks!

Dave

EDIT TO ADD: Apparently there has to be geometry on the screen for the gumball to appear. facepalm

Hopefully this helps some other newcomer like myself.

Hi Dave - correct, Gumball is for the currently selected objects.
