Having a lot of trouble with layouts

I have been using Rhino for a while, but never for drafting. I usually use Vectorworks, and take screen shots from Rhino, or export selected from the modeling display. But recently I have taken on Layouts, and it has been very frustrating. I am going to list what is going on.

  1. I could not create a “make 2d” because my drawing was too complicated and many of the lines did not show up. So I had to use one view to suffice, even when locked the view moves. I managed to get one layout.
  2. The second layout was suppose to be a detail for leveling the back feet of the bench. I drew a socket wrench and created a block incidence. I checked on it a couple of times and there it was a wrench. When I went to use it in the drawing the wrench disappeared, it vanishes up insert point. I am totally lost.
  3. I am wondering if there are any existing blocks available to insert. In Vectorworks there is an entire library of crews and bolts that you can insert in various views.
  4. Curious to know how to do a correct Layout with only one view, and changing it as details on the layout page. Here are the two pdf’s of the layout and my file.
Where did my socket wrench go? It is a lot easier to go from 2d to 3d that the other way around. Gosh Rhino can be crazy at times.

It’s not clear to me what you tried to make2d, but it seems to work pretty fast here to create this drawing, and most of the lines show up. There are indeed a couple missing:

Not sure why you would want to include a standard tool into the drawing. The tool itself is scaled:

The object is drawn on layer 09, while the block is defined on layer 06. If you hide either one of these layers, the object will not be visible.

There are no standard libraries included, but there are various ways to add standard parts. McMaster-Carr has pretty much every fastener you can think of that you can download as step file. There is also BoltGen (not sure right now if that is available on Mac)

Have you seen this page?

I used “make 2d on the perspective”. I got a plan of missing lines.

Thanks for the help with the wrench. I was trying to practice with using blocks, and also thanks for the McMaster Carr info. I still cannot get the “make 2d work”
