Hatching in v7 not working

Hi there all ye gurus,

I’m struggling to persuade the hatching tool to solid fill and let me keep the fill after having tantalizingly previewed it for me. I’m sure I’m missing something obvious, but please, tell me!

Oddly it does display hatch in the layout.

thanks in advance,

Giles

Can you run the command SystemInfo in Rhino and copy/paste the results here? Note also, that despite the image above, you do not have the latest version, we are at SR 11…

Hi, Yes sure. I didn’t realise I wasn’t updated. I’ll get to it.

Hi Giles -

If, in a new file from a factory-default template, you make a rectangle and use that to create a solid fill, does that stick? If it does, could you post a file where it doesn’t?
-wim

Hi Wim, here’s a file in which it doesn’t stick.

It did successfully stick on a new factory-default template large-inches in a rectangle.

Hi Giles -

Thanks.
How are you trying to apply a hatch to these curves?
There are 9 closed curves in that file - 7 of those create the “LK160” name. The two others are very short curves that appear to be garbage.
The other 82 curves are open. I don’t know what your intentions here are. You might want to run the CurveBoolean command on all curves and click outside the boat. That will generate an outline that will hatch.
-wim

Hi Wim,

Thanks, I’ll try that command. I didn;t really need closed curves as I’m just in 2d, but i’ll see if that sorts the hatching. It’s just the black hatching in the first image I’m trying to acheive.

best

Giles
