.NET 6 will be the default runtime for Rhino 8 in the next few weeks. It will also run with .NET 4.8 when loaded in other processes like Revit. Most existing plug-ins will continue to run without any modifications.
Those plug-ins aren’t even .NET based. This is being worked on and is not turned on by default now only because there was an issue with a single DLL.
didn’t notice that, my bad
When will kangaroo be added to GH2?
Hello @DavidRutten ! I saw there is a new GH2 release (2.0.8312 apparently), and was wondering if you had some kind of release notes ?
There is obviously a new Intersect tab, but I wonder if / what are the other changes
嘿,忘记更新了吗?到期了?
Anything new in Grasshopper 2? Last tweet from @CapsuleWire was 4 moths ago.
I’m just very curious about the development.
GH2 expries
The next version is build upon the Rhino 8.0 (non-beta) SDK. That probably means the packagemanager will refuse to install it on beta versions. But then the last Rhino 8 beta is also going to expire soon so maybe that doesn’t matter.
I’m now pushing a new version. It’s based upon the first Rhino 8.0 release version so probably won’t load on Rhino Beta or Rhino Wip installations.
From now on Grasshopper 2 alpha/beta releases no longer expire.
This release contains a bunch of improvements with regards to GH1 ↔ GH2 interoperability, but that code depends upon recent changes made in Grasshopper 1. Those changes won’t become public until Rhino 8.1, with the first pre-release of that SR probably coming next Tuesday.
Apologies for the bumpiness of this release.
Was just coming here to report that I upgraded to Rhino 8 yesterday, and was unable to find GH2. This fixes it, thanks!
Is this new version out yet ? Because I can’t seem to make grasshopper 2 work on Rhino 8 for Mac.
As the latest Grasshopper 2 WIP Expired already and I can’t find the new version.
Hi -
If you are referring to Grasshopper 2, yes, that new version is out but it depends on an updated Rhino 8. This means that older Rhino 8 versions will not see this new version of Grasshopper 2.
It’s possible that the current SR 1 release candidate suffices; if not, you’ll have to wait for a new release candidate.

K I updated Rhino, now what ![]()
That SR1 came out quick ![]()
I have no idea what you have tried… but…
SR1 is not out yet. It’s currently available as a release candidate. Release candidates always become available as soon as a SR is released.

When do release candidates generally make it to the automatic Rhino updater?
If I download release candidate from the link you provided, the correct procedure is to just run it despite having Rhino 8 already installed? Does it automatically uninstall the previous version and install the new one?
Generally, immediately.
In this case, specifically, if (1) you are on Windows, and (2) you are running 8.1.23311 from last week, it looks like you won’t see the release candidate from this week.
If (1) you are on macOS, and (2) you are on 8.0, you won’t see any release candidates and will have to manually install that from the link I provided.
Yes. You don’t need to do anything else.

I mean it says SR1, so…

This helps me understanding too though, and I think I remember coming across this knowledge once before:
1- G2 is not a replacement for G1. they can coexist on the same session. 2- G2 is a different platform so there is no such thing called " upgrade" 3- G1 and G2 will never share plugins, or features. I think G2 will be a feature to be included in Rhino 9 which is still years away! I personally keep visiting G2 once a week just to familiarize myself with the new platform
So, I’ll probably continue learning GH1 for now, and maybe take a few looks at GH2 once in a while ![]()

That’s the smart thing to do, also I think with Rhino Compute / Hops, theroatically It is possible to encapsulate your G1 definition into a hops component and run it from within G2 so you can have them in tandem.
