Grasshopper Plugins for older Versions working on newer Rhino Versions

Hey Forum!
Does Grasshopper Plugins, that were developed for older versions like Rhino4/5 and havent been updated since then, work if I were to install them into my Rhino7/8?
I mean as long as I wouldn’t try to use newer Rhino tools or objects for them, I dont know why they shouldn’t work or do I miss sth.

Chances are that they don’t. They might work if you switch to .NET Framework 4.8 from the default .NET Core. You can use the SetDotNetRuntime command in Rhino to make that switch. Note that some plug-ins that you are running / will be running might require running in .NET Core.
