Grasshopper loses reference to Rhino Object

Grasshopper sometimes loses the reference of a Rhino object which makes the whole model useless.

I don’t really know what causes this to happen, it might have something to do with switching between different drawings. But when GH is in this dementia status, the error can be reproduced with a new drawing / GH definition as well.

Look at the picture. Line parameter appears to be empty after assigning a line. But the “Manage Line collection” dialogue shows the recently assigned line.

The only thing that helps is restarting the computer. Rhino has become the one and only software that forces me to restart my computer, this can happen several times a day. Grrr, remembers me of the times I used Windows.

Hi Thomas -

Since you say that this happens several times a day, could you provide a bit more information about switching between drawings?

Hi Wim

I have a larger ongoing project which I’m working on and I have smaller projects I do in parallel. And I’m working with other, non CAD apps in parallel.

It doesn’t happen while continuously working on a GH definition. It appears after a break (PC might have switched to hibernation) or maybe after returning to Rhino after working on different apps for a while. It definitely helps to reboot. Surprisingly, killing the Rhino process in task manager doesn’t. Therefore I assume it is some kind of caching problem.

I will try to observe the behavior in more detail.

Hi Thomas -

Just to make sure, you’ve posted this with “mac”, “macgrasshopper”, and “apple-silicon” tags, are you on a PC or a Mac?
