So grasshopper has been a fantasy for me to learn, I followed a few tutorials when I first upgraded and discovered what grasshopper is. Its a tough one for people like me who mainly have been manually drawing in rhino. The tutorials I did gave me an idea of my total lack of ability and knowledge to draw much using grasshopper.
So today, I could not successfully draw these stairs in rhino, got on youtube and grasshopper to get my stairs going. This is the most I’ve learned about grasshopper so far.
Problem is bottom step and top step, so I’m stuck here and need to get the bottom step elevated, and top step in place, I know i missed some order of tool events etc.
I attached what is drawn
these stairs will be in a concrete hallway, which will be the easy part in rhino, I’m super close to getting these extruded in grasshopper and stuck.
I did and that is how I ended up in my stuck position I was end when I posted. Leopoldomonzani already gave me advice and I moved forward into my next step. Take observance above of his help and my reply
The problem is that Surface Split is not guarenteed to give you any specific order of the split surface pieces, so you have to order them yourself afterwards, or choose a method that does not use Surface Split.
I just saw this and built it in Grasshopper, Thank you, I like the simplistic format, I never would have known to do it like this. All I can do at this point in my grasshopper skills is follow the closet tutorial i can find and then jump off the path into what I’m trying to accomplish. Yes, I look at trying to approach drawing in grasshopper like I do in rhino through the system of commands. Which i use use more commends than clicking on tools in rhino. Though grasshopper is not very straight forward as rhino, the rhino commands seem to cover more back-end processes than when in grasshopper i gotta know those back-end processes and command grasshopper. Its going to be a good journey to draw or better stated learn, to draw in grasshopper. These stairs were something I didn’t see being done as well in rhino, as grasshopper would be better, especially when I need to change the dimensions.
