Grasshopper display issues: black canvas

I open grasshopper in the latest version of Rhino 8, appears normal, but then goes black when starting to add parameters. I have attached a screenshot.

Running on Windows 10 and

I have the latest graphic drivers, etc.

It has not affected any other software’s nor the Rhino viewport windows.

Hi Nicholas,

Let’s troubleshoot by opening Rhino in SafeMode, then open grasshopper via the Rhino command line with GrasshopperLoadOneByOne and say no to 3rd party GH plugins. The first 13 are shipped with Rhino if i recall.

When I open Rhino 8 in Safe Mode:

when I run GrasshopperLoadOneByOne:

I selected yes.

I then tried two variations by closing Rhino and repeated all prior steps:

  1. no to all remaining. same black canvas result.
  2. yes to all remaining. same black canvas result.

To confirm, you are getting normal canvas color at first, but after placing one component it turns black, regardless if in safemode?

Yes, this is what I see:

This continues to look like a plugin conflict of some sort. The older honeybee/ladybug might need to run in .netframework.

To start Rhino in .NET Framework once:

Caution: only recommended if you have a plug-in that doesn’t run in .NET Core.

  1. Create a new shortcut for Rhino in Windows
  2. Edit the shortcut
  3. Add command line argument /netfx

It has not worked…

I eventually uninstalled and reinstalled Rhino. Still the same…

Please help.

Here i successfully turned my canvas black. <item name=“canvas_backcolor”

Closing Rhino and deleting the file before reopening reset to defaults.
