GPU + Vray Performance

Hi everyone,

I need help deciding which GPU I should choose for my next PC setup.

I use Rhino 8 with V-Ray for rendering, mostly for interior design work.

I’m considering the RTX 5060 Ti, RTX 5070 Ti, or RTX 5080, but I’m struggling to determine whether the performance differences between these cards are significant compared to the price differences. It is only for Rhino + Vray. No gaming.

Does anyone have experience with these GPUs? I’m currently using an older GTX 1080.

Mathias

AFAIK it scales pretty much linearly with the amount of cores you have available. You can try using their benchmark app, and then look in the results for the cards you are considering

More and newer CUDA cores is more betterer. Also you need enough VRAM to actually hold the whole scene in the card. And time is money, so get the absolute best you can afford, hundreds of dollars for a few percent is still a few percent. I upgraded from a 1080ti(greatest video card of all time) to a 3090 and the speedup was over 3X.

Hi @Mathias_Mejlby
My 2 cents:
Don’t get the 5060 - it’s an entry level card and you’ll hate it! As for the 5070Ti or the 5080, the 5080 is the superior card, so - as it does so often - it comes down how much money you have and if the 10-15% gain between the 5070TI and 5080 is worth the extra cash.
