V-ray 5 for rhino 7 hardware configuration

Hello

I have a video card here: Geforce RTX 2060 6GBs
and a processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT 6-core

I wanted to know what is the best, and fastest, hardware configuration for using vray:

in the viewport:
for adjusting materials with complex procedural maps
and adjustment of lights with GI.

and what is the best configuration for final rendering?

I also wanted to know which denoiser is faster and more efficient: V-ray or NVIDIA AI?

thanks

Do you want to render per CPU or GPU?

CPU … all V-Ray features, fastest CPU needed, for example Threadripper 3990

GPU… not all V-Ray features supported, very fast per powerful GPU like RTX3090, easy scaleable per multi GPU setup.

I use 2x2080ti + 1x3090 and I’m very happy with the speed.

I use the V-Ray denoiser for production output, it better keep details. The new Intel denoiser of VfR5 looks good too, but I have no experience yet.

What kind of scenes do you want to render?

it is faster to render:
why RTX?
or
Why CUDA: CPU + GPU?

RTX could be helpful, but I never have seen a big speed improvement, maybe 0%…10% most.

CPU+Cuda can be helpful, but some times not. In my case the CPU is needed to feed all GPU. If the CPU is used for rendering too, than the GPU get less data and the rendering is slower. CPU Cuda is only emulated GPU rendering. But in your case it could help. I would look at the V-Ray benchmark results and look for CPU and GPU results.

GPU 6GB is quite limited, I hope you use a second GPU for display use.
