@lyra systeminfo seems fine. Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing, and a file that shows the issue? Thanks.

Hi,

Good to know. The glass finish that I’m using is showing up as black/gray despite trying multiple things. This material presented normally in rhino 6. This also occurs with any other clear/shiny material that I apply.

Not sure how to send you a file of the issue, do you want me to send you this whole file with my geometry?

I moved this to a new topic, since it is not the same issue as the issue you posted this in.
Glass like materials in rendered mode are far from ideal currently.
There is this YT RH-81590 Glass material is useless in Rendered mode.

Hi,

Wondering what the solution is? It worked well in Rhino 6, I use glass on all of my projects, so hoping for a way to repair or alternative.

Thank you
Lyra

Hello @lyra
I added a note in that YT

Hi,

Wondering if you can please clarify, is there nothing I can do to get the glass material working in rendered mode in rhino 8? It works well in Rhino 6, so it’s frustrating, especially since I use glass in every project.

If there is a way to repair or fix this problem can you please let me know.

The RH-81590 link didn’t work.

I have found that it’s very difficult to make glass that is not dark. Yes, even in V8.

Hi Lyra -

I’ve made that issue public.

It doesn’t look like there is a quick fix for this…

Hi @lyra ,

The best solution I can offer you now is to use the Custom material type for glass in the Rendered display mode. Here’s an example…

CustomGlass.3dm (373.1 KB)

Keep in mind, if you also use the Raytraced display mode or Rhino Render, you’ll need to adjust the transparency of that custom material and make the color lighter as shown below.
