So, poking around on the new Macbook Air/Mountain Lion… I see that some applications can be full screen and I can use the fancy track pad swiping to zoot among full screen applications, very trick. But Rhino, does not do this, it does not show the expando arrows in the top-right that makes it full screen and so far it seems only to be on the desktop with non-maximized applications- is that correct?
It will be very helpful to have a Frame option for the app, specially if user is usign spaces. For example, if user is working in Rhino and is in Space 5 in a active file, closes it (Cmd+W), app still runs but no window. Open a Finder window and OS switches to Space 1, if you try to Alt+Tab to switch back to Rhino (Space 5) only the Up Bar will change from Finder to Rhino, but wont go to Space 5.
This is a very common issue with Adobe Apps, they implemented a Application Frame option in the Window Menu.
After having searched through YouTrack, it appears to me that it is not possible to provide that functionality on the Mac platform. Perhaps @dan has more information on this.

@wim Thank for your helpful breadcrumbs and YouTrack sleuthing on this one. I finally had the time to parse this comment (not publically visible) and I think we should be able to implement Fullscreen now. I’ve logged:
just to be sure, before i start dancing and making backflips, are you guys talking about the easy and non mac os native non (annyoingly animated) fullscreen, like windows without changing spaces?
