Feature Request: Moveable Boolean Object

I couldn’t find if this exists in Rhino, but from searching the forums I can’t see this as a tool.

Basically, I believe it would be beneficial to have a tool where you can make an object a “cutting object” and no matter where you move it, it cuts through a non-cutting object. This would make it a lot easier to move cuts around. Maybe you can tie that “cutting object” to a specific surface so it doesn’t cut all the other object.

You could then put all your cutting objects on a layer and hide them and they still perform the Boolean Operation.

Now I couldn’t see if this exists but I am happy to be proved wrong if this is already a feature.

Hi Christian, you can do this if your Booelan uses History and you set DeleteInput=No. But it is potentially quite awkward as the inputs will be coincident with the output - you may need to use layers to keep things organized.

Could you break it down for me as I can’t see a “Record History”? I am in Rhino 8

Hi Christian - turn on the Cutter layer and move the cylinder around - does that do what you are after?
