Extrude normal to surface error

Attached are two surfaces that have been exploded from a polysurface.

I tried to simple extrude a curve normal to the surface, using “_fin”. However, it seems to go into some form of hissy fit, and I cannot see why. Perhaps I created the surfaces incorrectly?

It’s like it retains history of being attached to the other surface. Even deleting the other surface reproduces the same error.

EDIT: I do note that in my case, I can explode the resulting fin polysurface, and get rid of the nonsense, and return what I think I should get.

Hi David - I see that - it does what I think you want if you DupEdge and Fin that rather than the edge curve directly. I’ll add this to the bug pile, thanks for the report.

That’s amusing.

I have always been using DupBorder and then deleting what I don’t want. Worse, I have been always use CopySubCurve as an alternative and selecting the whole edge. I have never realised there is a DupEdge.

Hahaha!

Thanks.

David.
