Expression Editor (newbee question)

I’m trying to use the Expression Editor for the first time. Following David Bachman’s example in his book (trying to calculate z=x²-y²), I enter “x^2-y^2” as he shows into the editor (I also tried “x²-y²”) and I get “Parameter 'Variable x” has an invalid name. Parameter ‘Variable y’ has an invalid name"

  1. What am I doing wrong?
  2. Where can I find docs on this component?

It is a known problem, you are probably using “Draw Full Names” option.
Just rename the inputs of the expression component to simple “x” and “y”.

You can use long variable names, but you need avoid blank spaces for obvious reasons. Use underscore character if needed.
