Draw order & Rhino 8

Hello,

Any news on the developments of draw order for 2D objects (curves, hatches), blocks etc?

When searching there are plenty of examples of people running into problems with the current ‘system’.

Are you thinking model or layout space?
Model space:
Curves, text, hatches are supported. Surfaces not. I assume it’s because they are mostly 3d, and would it make sense to draw an object on top of another, even if it’s below it in space?
Debatable…

Layout space:
Aforementioned objects plus Detail views are supported. And here’s a nice ‘hack’: you can (ab)use the Z coordinate (perpendicular to the paper) of any object to control draw order, instead of using draw order mechanisms. (You can use the BoxEdit panel for that).
Wee bit absurd, but it works nicely.

Plenty of discussion on it (see below) - but it seems that these issues have not yet been addressed in R8.

I honestly don’t think using the Z axis should be correct way of solving this major drafting issue.

Any news McNeel?
