Hi, I started to evaulate VA and come across few flaws to solve, before considering to buy full version of VA.
One of them are doors and theirs dimensions. I need to have door leaf sizes on tags in plan and also in schedule tables. Default is that doors are sized based on theirs rough opening (with frame). But I need to tag and schedule doors leaf sizes.
So I decided to make new style for every typical door sizes (600, 700, 800,…mm), added new parameter for door leaf size. Then I added only one size of rough opening. Lastly I made new tag style to show door leaf size parameter instead of rough opening. So far so good.
When inserting new door or changing to another style - dimensions stay as before (last entry or door size). Is there a way to force change also size of door? I have styles with only one size of door, but when changed to other one, dimension stays as before and is set to other no “by the style”? To put it simply - i need to not allow “user dimension” but only “by style”.
1. Tags
Please check your Tag properties. If you go to the Orientation section, you’ll see you can choose between Horizontal, Vertical, or Aligned to the door. Currently it’s likely set to “Horizontal”. Switching it to “Aligned” should make the tag rotate together with the door whenever it’s inserted at an angle or moved.
2. Door Profile
Right now, when you change a door’s style, only the style itself changes — the dimension and profile parameters don’t automatically update to match the new style. Since there’s no lock option for custom parameters, you need to reset the value manually to “By style” via the property panel dropdown each time you change styles, which isn’t ideal.
I’ll discuss this with our developers and keep you updated.
I overlooked that tag orientation box - now I can orient it properly,. But aligned option is in different orientation I would need, so I have to orient verticals and horizontals separately. Default is horizontal, can I change it somewhere within style? Or just make possible that tag align option should should be 90° rotated because it cant be rotated by gumball.
That locked size would be great to have and control size by style. That way we could be certain, that size changes based on style. I think it could be also useful for more objects than just doors…
To illustrate - here is problem where tag rotation option is needed. Doors are not in X or Y orientation so horizontal or vertical orientation is not relevant. Aligned option TAG is 90° off, so there should be rotation option in the tag settings. Thanks
