Yes I have made a skirt for it too so i could play in the surf with it, but it was hard to get on without tipping over, unless you have help! You can’t use any sort of paddle on the side as it just goes round in circles!

I’m considering building a surf ski, and was comparing the pros and cons of strip building versus stitch and glue. Can you tell how these boats compare, regarding weight and stiffness (assuming they have comparable length and width)?

Thanks. Both of these kayaks are the same weight, I don’t try to build light, I use a sheer clamp and healthy fillets, they’re both right at 53 pounds. As for stiffness, they are both stiff as a board, no flex. If you look at the recessed coaming area on the strip kayak and the recessed hatches you can see that those areas are stitch & glue so you can combine the two methods no problem.
