Custom Gumball Placement and orientation

Sometimes when I move an object’s gumball (ctrl-drag) and rotate it (ctrl-drag-rotate) to a new position and orientation it seems to remain in the new position when I select the object later. Other times it resets to the centre of gravity and oriented to the active cplane. How do I determine when the new configuration will be kept and when it resets?

Thanks Sherry, but I think you are describing alt-drag. Ctrl-drag moves the gumball with respect to the object. (At least that’s how it works on my system.) I’d like to know how to control whether the gumball stays so it’s where I moved it, the next time i select the object.

Hi @djhg
If you select only one object, the gumball should stay where you left it - unless you reset the gumball it, of course.
I you select multiple objects , the gumball will reset as soon as you unselect the objects. Does that comply with what you are seeing?
